The two men arrested on Tuesday in connection with the murder of Richard Deakin in Chasetown have been released on police bail, pending further inquiries.
Chief Inspector Selwyn Burton, from Trent Valley division, said: "Our Major Investigation Department is carrying out a full, detailed inquiry into Mr Deakin's death. We are determined to bring his killers to justice and are continuing to appeal for anybody with information to contact us."

Neighbourhood uniformed officers have maintained high-visibility patrols in the Meadway Street area following the incident, to offer reassurance to local residents.
A drop-in event was held at the nearby Ridgeway Primary School on Monday (19 July) where police, Lichfield District Council, local councillors and other partners were on hand to discuss any concerns.
Newsletters have also been issued to local residents to keep them updated.
